Bathing

Among the main Icelandic traditions there are the swimming pools. They have been part of this country since the settlement and these thermal pools are a multifunctional space: for leisure, for relaxing, for meeting people, for hanging out with friends, kids, parents, partners, new dates.

In the Diamond Circle the most know thermal pool is the Jarðböðin Nature Baths. Even if surely the most scenic one, this is not the only one and probably not the most traditional one.

Húsavík Swimming Pool – centrally located in town, with a swimming pool, a kiddie pool, a Jacuzzi and a hot tub.

Húsavík Cheese Tub – few hundreds meters north of the town, a bit hidden on a cliff with a spectacular view on Skjálfandi Bay.

Húsavík Goldfish Pond – a couple of kilometers south of the town, just beside the main street this is a misty pond where it is possible to bath (if you don’t mind the algae).

Laugar Swimming Pool – situated in the small village between Húsavík and Mývatn, in a beautiful and peaceful environment.

Heiðarbær Swimming Pool – conveniently located, open in summer only, with a swimming pool and two hot tubs.

Reykjahlíð Swimming Pool – just outside the main village of lake Mývatn, it offers a swimming pool and hot tubs.
